Elizabeth Lowell’s many remarkable historical and contemporary novels include New York Times bestsellers, Forget Me Not, Only Love, A Woman Without Lies, Autumn Lover and Winter Fire. Her latest major accomplishments, Amber Beach, Jade Island, and Pearl Cove were instant New York Times bestsellers. Ms. Lowell has more than fifteen million books in print. She lives in Palm Springs, California, with her husband with whom she writes mystery novels under a pseudonym.

James Daniels handles Lowell's wrenching novel with impressive skill. Lowell may have "updated" some parts, but it is definitely a book from it's time. The dialog was so over the top that I skipped whole sections. Emotions seethe beneath the surface but are never overdramatized, even during explicit love scenes. His smooth delivery and comfortable cadence make for easy, pleasurable listening. Set in paradise, Ms. Lowell gives us the feeling of being there, appreciating the delicate balance of "Eden" and the beauty entrusted to us. Her characters are enduring and live on in our imaginations long after we finish this chapter in their lives.

Books by Elizabeth Lowell. Though it had been seven days since Chase had seen Nicole Ballard in that snapshot, the image still burned in his mind. The woman in the picture was all sex and grace and energy, with long, golden-red hair streaming out as she spun around with a laughing child in her arms.

The trail she had chosen was little more than a series of twists and turns and small cairns set out across a piece of Kilauea’s stony side se very gently, almost secretly, from sea to summit. As with all of Hawaii’s volcanoes, Kilauea was shaped like a slightly curved battle shield. It was very different from the steep-sided, cone-shaped volcanoes of California, Italy, Mexico, or Japan.

A classic story of desire, hope, and dangerous destiny from the incomparable New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Elizabeth Lowell

Paradise calls to Chase Wilcox. A man of science, escaping the destruction of his own personal world, he is drawn to the lush beauty of the island of Hawaii and the secrets it holds. Here he intends to immerse himself in his work…and somehow heal and forget.

A research assistant, an artist, and a dancer, Nicole Ballard also hides a secret pain. Together on an important scientific project in the moist, verdant heart of a tropical wonderland, both she and Chase will be forced to confront their own lingering inner darkness. But in the shadows of Mount Kilauea, a passion that burns like fire will erupt, as unpredictable and dangerous as the living volcano, transforming the very landscape of their lives.

  • Chase and Nicole each have a bitter legacy from previous relationships. Chase is bitter and vengeful in his outlook on women and Nicole is hurt and lacking in self confidence. Each one has to overcome these experiences to be able to reach out and trust in chance for love. The lesson is that love, true love is not about self, but the well-being of your partner and allowing your own vulnerability and trusting your self to another. Set in paradise, Ms. Lowell gives us the feeling of being there, appreciating the delicate balance of "Eden" and the beauty entrusted to us. Her characters are enduring and live on in our imaginations long after we finish this chapter in their lives. Thank you for an enjoyable and engaging read.

  • Its mostly sex from beginning to end which will turn off readers who doesn't care for it. But description of Nicole's pain while Chase was degrading her made me really cry. As far as I can remember, this is the third book in my entire reading life which made me cry and I was far from her life experience. If you will focus on the book scene by scene and not look for what it lacks, its full of emotions. I am now planning on seeing Hawaii because I want to see what's described in the book. I want to see the volcanoes of Hawaii and watch a live Hula dance, and maybe buy a lavalava.

  • Elizabeth Lowell rocks. This book held my interest and I didn't want it to end.
The characters were terrific. The story was so well put together. Jokes by the
kids, both Nicole and Chase's reasons for the way they were, it was all given
    In increments. Great story!

  • Good book

  • You can tell this is a book written a number of years ago. Ms. Lowell may have "updated" some parts, but it is definitely a book from it's time. The dialog was so over the top that I skipped whole sections. Ms. Lowell has the unpleasant habit of having the so-called hero have a pet name for the heroine. This could be cute if handled well, but it gets to be so annoying. I wanted to tell him - she has a name and it's not Butterfly. Stick to Ms. Lowell's more recent attempts. They are quite good.

  • I had this book as an original paperback many years ago. Loved 99% of her books over the years. There's only been 1 or 2 that were not good.

  • Hot in more than a few ways. Physical, emotional, mental, environmentally. This story keeps up the tension till the climax.

  • I love romance novels and Lowell's are good for a fun read. Not much plot, but very entertaining, relaxing. For adult audiences.
