Green Wilma is so determined to catch a tasty fly that she doesn?t notice a family of galactic visitors to her pond. Purchased this book because my class loves Tedd Arnold's books. This is really funny! The children loved it. Hope he writes more like this. In a case of mistaken identity.

More than 15 years ago, Green Wilma made a splashy, absurdist debut (Green Wilma, 1993), and now Arnold has splendidly resurrected the young frog. The rhymed narration is as light as bubbles-"One morning Wilma woke to hear a buzzing in the sk. She hopped into the air to catch a tasty little fly"-gently pushing along the story of Wilma's accidental hoisting into an alien spacecraft and her subsequent return-posthaste, after she shoots her tongue at that same fly, which has worked its way aboard with Wilma. In contrast, however, the artwork has wonderful heft and presence.

Paperback
  • This was a favorite of my son's when he was a child, so I bought it for a friends baby. Since your kids always want more than one story and want you to re-read the same stories over and over, this fits the bill nicely because it's short, fun to read and has great illustrations.

    Definitely recommended.

  • I taught third grade for years, and this was my students' favorite read-aloud! Anyone who wants a fun, rhyming story, this is the one for you! I often give this as a gift for people with toddlers, too! Tedd Arnold did a great job with Green Wilma, and his other book "Parts". In fact, I recommend any book by Tedd Arnold. I am told this will be going out of print soon (tell me it ain't so!) so grab a copy! A classic! A GREAT read!

  • I bought this book to read to my 4 year old grandson. As it turns out, my 8 year old granddaughter is getting far more enjoyment from it. She has read it over and over.

  • Purchased this book when I was the mystery reader for my granddaughter's pre-k class. They loved it!!

  • I bought this book to read during the children's story portion of our church service. It's a good read-a-loud book because of the rhyming. The children loved it. I also bought this book because I already have other books by this author. I especially like the "Parts" books. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to buy a book for pre-school to elementary school age. It's entertaining.

  • Replacement book. Nice to find it.

  • Fun way to learn a good lesson

  • We've been reading this book for almost 16 years. Our grown kids still look at it everyone and then and giggle.
