  • This Raffi "Songs to Read" book is my toddlers favorite book, hands down. We originally borrowed a copy from our local library and he became attached to the book (we had to read it over and over and over again), so we purchased our own copy.
At first he simply loved that my husband and I sang the book to him. But as we read it more and more he learned what verses go where and started to do hand motions or sounds for them on his own. Reading the book is now a totally interactive activity. We ask him what comes next, and he responds. So we have a lot of fun family time with this book. And I highly recommend adding this book to your library.
Plus, I think overall it is a fun change of pace to sing a book to a child rather than just reading it.

  • This book illustrates the popular preschool song in an engaging and playful way. It is helpful in teaching both the child and parents the sequence of the verses and the lyrics to the song. Really helpful when your child just starts learning the song in preschool or daycare and you’re not sure of the lyrics.

  • Sing the song while turning the pages. My granddaughter loves this book and song. For weeks, she would gleefully point out different busses as we drove around. High quality board book and fun pictures to illustrate the song.

  • We love Raffia books! So fun to read and sing. Our daughters love them.

  • We got this book for our son; originally, from the local library... we had to get it out several times, as it quickly became his favorite. Eventually, we bought it to add to our collection.

The book brings the simple interactive song, The Wheels on the Bus" to life as each verse is wonderfully illustrated with artwork that captures a child's attention and provides LOTS of visual stimulation and teaching points. Vibrant colors, interesting people and actions make the beautifully simple song something you can sit down with your child and read over and over, pointing out new things...

We read the book, sing with the book, make the hand movements/gestures, go into detail about the vignettes presented in the back-story, use our imagination, object, action and color recognition, it's a great way to connect educationally and in a simple, entertaining way.

This book is up there with "Green Eggs and Ham" "You Are Special" "Guess How Much I Love You" and "Go Dog Go" as a key component of any young child's library.

Your decision should not be "if" I get this book for a child, but whether you get the board book, paper book, or both!

  • One of my grandson's favorite songs. I wish it were more like the original. Some of the lines are different from what I recall from my daughter and the video.

  • I sing the song to my 14 months old boy when we read this book together for one month already. One day, I found he read the book himself n sounds yi yi ya ya, he is singing! I'm so surprise! Actually this song has many version of books, I pick this one with no special reason but it comes out very good, the color is soft n the passengers are people not animal which seems more closer to reality. Overall, I recommend this book.

  • I love singing stories to my elementary students in music class. Over time, the students learn the tunes as well and sing with me. They enjoy visuals which is why the thought of musical "story time" is usually a success for me.
