Daddy Bear and Baby Bear walk home through the forest. On the way, they see many wonderful things - the golden leaves falling from the trees, the big yellow sun going down and the beautiful stars twinkling overhead. When they get home, Daddy tucks his sleepy Baby Bear up in bed. This warm celebration of the relationship between parent and child is perfect for reading at bedtime.
  • What a sweet book! Particularly the illustrations.

I bought it to expand our daddy-based literature collection. With so many mommy-themed books on the market, you sometimes have to dig a little to cover old dad. It also works well as a bedtime story.

The illustrations in this one just shine! Daddy bear walks his baby bear home over the course of a long afternoon and evening. They do all sorts of fun things together like race and eat blackberries. Very wholesome stuff, none of it gender-specific (baby bear could be a boy or girl). Mostly, the lovely bears just seem to enjoy nature and a beautiful, beautiful day. The pictures remind me of places I've been with my own father, New Hampshire and Vermont, and with my own daughter, Maine. Lovely stuff.

I highly recommend this as a gift for any dad or expectant father, especially nature-lovers, or any baby/child old enough not to destroy a paper-page book.

  • This item was purchased for my son-in-law as a partial birthday present. He loves reading to his two-year-old son. Because he has to work some nights, I wanted him to have something that talked about going home with daddy. My son-in-law said he loved it.

  • Lovely story for new parents

  • This is a classic children's book. Beautifully illustrated with easy to recognise characters. Simple, clear easy paced story line. Very enjoyable.

As with all the best children's books there is the fun for the children, and then maybe a deeper symbolism for the adults. The deeper idea here is the contrast between the joy of being out and exploring as a child, and the need for the security of parents and home. Braun's understanding of fatherhood seems very deep. Try "I love my daddy" I Love My Daddyas well

A lovely book, that both parents and children will enjoy. It's a pleasure to recommend it to readers.

  • All three of my children have loved this book. The illustrations are so sweet. When my oldest child was learning to read, this is the first book he read aloud completely by himself. It is a nice story with simple words.

  • We got this book as we've loved everything this author has done before (both as writer & illustrator). The book didn't disappoint: A lovely story with full page illustrations that are so rich in colour and detail but still soft enough for young kids (and adults) to enjoy. One of the best children illustrators out there! Would highly recommend.

  • The art work was beautiful with a very cute story. Made a great gift for a bit fan of bears.
