Max's Chocolate Chicken book. I feel like this book should be titled Max & Ruby’s competition for a chocolate chicken in which Max’s ADHD takes over. This book features Rosemary Wells's original, and more primitive, illustrations rather than those taken from the animated television series. Personally, I prefer the earlier old school illustrations for their character and rustic charm. Max's Chocolate Chicken is a good choice for secular Easter reading.

  • Rosemary Well's books are charming in any format. This is a lovely collection of some of her best.

  • I bought this as a present for a young man who collects old VHS tapes. He was happy with it, I've had no complaints.

  • This book, as well as several of the Rosemary Wells books, was a staple in our home when our kids were little - we loved the humor and pictures of Max in his pursuit of the Chocolate Chicken! Based on the fond memories, I purchased this book for my grandson in hopes of sharing the same joy of reading it with him.

  • My all time favorite Easter book. Video available on youtube and my grandkids love it. Really gets them prepped for their first Easter egg hunt. They'll watch the video or read the book again and again looking for the eggs.

  • I love the Rosemary Wells books because Max can be so pesky and still wins at the end. Illustrations are great. They are gentle and funny and feel very true if you have a sibling! And yet it all works out in the end thanks to the Easter Bunny. Adorable and fun Easter tradition for our family.

  • A favorite in the preschool classroom. The children really get a kick out of Max and his antics.

  • Love this book! Super cute Easter gift for my 2 year old.

  • The grandkids love watching Max and Ruby. This is a good choice for Easter.
