  • I'm a teacher. Years ago we had a basal with this story in it. I loved it. That was several series ago. I have been searching for that basal we used to have and cannot find it. It had wonderful illustrations. I finally came across this library edition and bought it. Of course it's the same story, but the pictures are in black and white. The book has definitely seen better days. I can't wait to read this to my class. I'm just sad that the pictures aren't what I was expecting, but I should have known that the basal would be different from the actual book.

I highly recommend this story. It is funny and interesting, and it's based on a TRUE story! They say that even 100 years later, on a hot day at the Boston piers, you can still smell the molasses.

  • An adequate but simple explanation of the Molasses Flood

  • It is a great true story! Really enjoyed reading it with my students since we are not far from Boston.
