I always loved this book, I was a HUGE Care Bears fan in the 1980s and this is one . I used this book as a signing piece at my daughter's "Terrbile Two's" themed birthday party

I always loved this book, I was a HUGE Care Bears fan in the 1980s and this is one of the things I actually owned. To me the modern Care Bear drawings are flat and rather lifeless compared to the original, some computerized things are not better. I used this book as a signing piece at my daughter's "Terrbile Two's" themed birthday party. All in attendance to the party signed the inside cover with a sweet note to her for her to remember her birthday.

There are a couple of other pictures of the outside of the house that I love looking at because it reminds me of a couple of the original Fisher Price Little People houses from the 80s. In retrospect some other very nice things about this book is the age appropriateness of the clothing as well as the fact that the main character (the oldest daughter) isn't as skinny as a rail.

  • I just recently purchased this book after my original copy disappeared when I was a kid. I always loved this book, I was a HUGE Care Bears fan in the 1980s and this is one of the things I actually owned. To me the modern Care Bear drawings are flat and rather lifeless compared to the original, some computerized things are not better.

The story itself is good for younger kids, it was published when I was five and I have memories of still having it when I was seven or eight. Other than the adorable Care Bears, I really love the drawings throughout the book, most especially things splashing like the milk on the brother's head as well as some syrup on the older sister's head later in the book. I used to sit and look at the cut away view of the house for long periods of time, it looks like a dollhouse and I would be making up stories of what else the family did in their house.

I remember I used to think about that it was really nice to have a book with a girl "just like me" because her face was more rounded and looks more like (what I remember) 8 year old girls should look like weight wise. As for the clothes, I'm sure that to some they will look very dated, but I find it really nice to see kids dressing as kids instead of mini adults. If there is a concern about the appearance of the mom not having a job outside of the home (it's not even mentioned) you could just tell the kids it was he day off!

By the way, if you happen to see a copy of this book that has staple holes all around the page edges, that would have been mine... My brother thought it would be funny to staple one of my favorite books together and see what I'd do when it wouldn't open. I got him back though by stapling the front of his bathrobe shut. :D

  • I used this book as a signing piece at my daughter's "Terrbile Two's" themed birthday party. All in attendance to the party signed the inside cover with a sweet note to her for her to remember her birthday. We have it put away for preservation, but I did read the book and it is so cute. When she is old enough not to tear pages, I will certainly add it to her library. So glad I found it for this unique purpose and it was only .99 cents! Can't beat that!

  • My most favorite book since childhood! I'm almost 40.

  • Best book from my childhood. So happy to own it again!

  • Older sister of twins (2 year olds) discovers it's no fun to have a brother AND sister with the T-T's. It is her birthday and she is feeling forgotten and sad. She decides to run away. She is visited by the care bears who try and cheer her and emphathise. She considers all the things she could do (circus,...) As she is thinking it over in her clubhouse... her friends begin arriving for what she discovers is her surprise birthday party. She realizes the Terrible two's won't last forever because they'll have a b-day of their own soon.

  • Our family with twins had a lot of fun with this book. It may be dated but it captures the essence of this precious year!

  • Fast shipping and great book. Came in pretty good shape considering the age. My daughter does love this book and is now on a care bear kick!

  • brought back childhood memories for my girls. Now sharing with the grandchildren.
