It's a very sweet story about a little bear named Betty who believes that everyone has forgotten her birthday until her friends surprise her with a special picnic. Betty Bear is sad because none of her animal friends wish her a happy birthday, but she soon learns the reason for their silence
  • Another sweet book by Gyo Fujikawa. These were favorites of my children and I'm happy to share them with my grandson now. In this book, Betty Bear feels forgotten on her birthday, until the surprise party ending. My grandson loves singing Happy Birthday when he sees the big cake!

  • I had bought this book years ago for my oldest daughter's 1st birthday, she still has the book. Recently I was reading it to one of her daughters and decided I would love to give this book to one of my other granddaughters for her upcoming birthday so I was thrilled to find another one. This one cost a bit more than the original (ha, ha, 34 years ago) but it was worth it because I was on a mission and it's in good shape.

  • MY all time fav book. I had this book as a little girl and it was so special to me, it is pretty amazing that my daughter gets all giddy like a did. nostalgia all the way

  • My son, who will be 39 this year had the first printing of this book (1977). We had many hours enjoying reading this book and talking about the great illustrations. Unfortunately, we donated his accumulated library to schools and needy families when he outgrew them. He now has a daughter who is just the right age to enjoy this book. I look forward to spending enjoyable time reading and discussing this book with her.

  • This was a birthday present for my 35 year old son who thoroughly enjoyed it in his childhood. He had the whole book memorized. The biggest smile came on his face when he saw what it was. Now his children are enjoying it.

  • Not as clean as I had thought it would be from the rating.
