  • I love this book. I am using it to work on my 7 year old's cleaning habits. I am also using it to keep him reading over the summer before he returns to school. He is a great reader and just finished kindergarten. I want to keep the pressure on because being a good reader is so fundamentally essential to being a good student. He is very lacking in keeping his stuff picked up and putting away his clothes and toys. I loved this book when I was little and growing up, so am hopeful it will help me reinforce the concept of keeping things neat and clean. Didn't work with me too well, but hope springs eternal.

  • This was one of my favorite books as a child and now, I get to read it to my daughter!

  • One of my favorite books from childhood. Now I can share it with my children

  • Perfect! Item was as described and shipping was fast. Would definitely purchase again!

  • It was in sufficiently good condition for a used book. My son was happy to receive it. An old favorite.

  • Perfect condition for my child, she loves this book.

  • The shipping was very fast and packed well, however, I was disappointed in the shape the book came in. It was printed as in being in very good shape. I would say okay or good at the most for the shape it was in. Pages were taped in or coming out.

  • Oh, Ernie. You had it coming, really. Who could honestly blame Bert for kicking you to the curb for not keeping up your end of the shared household duties? I mean, it really was a BIG mess.

I bet you'd have thought twice about leaving every single possession all over the house,if you'd only realized how demoralizing it was going to be to couch surf around Sesame Street. Big Bird didn't want you. Grover was kind but firm in his rejection. Even Oscar couldn't stomach your filth, and that's saying something.

And then, the worst. We see you sleeping on the sidewalk, sandwiched between your former stoop and Oscar's can, using a discarded newspaper for a blanket. Surely your rock bottom, no?

    Well, no, apparently not.

Bert had an opportunity to throw some tough love your way here, Ernie, but instead opted to go the codependent route when he happened upon you on the street out there. "Oh, just come BACK, Ernie," he cried in desperation. "Your filthy ways are filthy, but I can live with that, Ernie. I can... live with that. I just can't live without YOU, dear Ernie." (I'm paraphrasing a bit.)

"Ernie's Big Mess," is so powerful in its realism that upon its conclusion, where we see Ernie once again in his very own bed, nearly consumed by his very big mess, my young son closed his eyes and sighed heavily. "Oh, Ernie," he lamented as we closed the book. "Oh, messy, messy, Ernie. You are always going to be so messy."
