těpán Zavřel (26 December 1932 – 25 February 1999) was a Czech painter, fresco creator, graphic artist, writer and one of the most influential man in the field of the children's book illustration in the 20th century.

těpán Zavřel (26 December 1932 – 25 February 1999) was a Czech painter, fresco creator, graphic artist, writer and one of the most influential man in the field of the children's book illustration in the 20th century. He lived and studied in Czechoslovakia until 1959, then he emigrated to Italy. There he studied at Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. Afterwards he traveled through whole Europe, during this time he arranged exhibitions of his own works.

This treasure is called Štěpán Zavřel and he’s a world-famous illustrator of children’s books, and also author of some of them, who is a. .Much of Štěpán Zavřel’s work has been associated with Christmas themes or Christian themes.

He is virtually unknown in his home country, which I think it’s a pity, and many others think it’s a pity and there is a group of Italians who are working on this project and who came up with the idea to present Štěpán Zavřel in his home country.
