Here is a book for toddlers that resolves the dilemma many parents have as they attempt to reconcile their religious faith with the secular celebration of Easter. The author first asks the question: Is this what Easter means? By the end of the story, even the youngest child will agree with the author, 'Now I get it, the eggs are fun and the Easter bunny is okay, but Easter's not about that stuff. It's about God's son.' Ages 2-5.
  • This Easter book is great. It covers a lot of beloved things like Easter eggs with jelly beans inside and chocolate bunnies, but it also clearly and rhythmically reveals what Easter is truly about- Jesus. Gods son and how he died and rose three days latter. This book is written beautifully and is very accessible to children as young as 1 to about 8.

  • This is a great book for Christian families who want to separate the true meaning of Easter from the commercial meaning for their kiddos. The rhyming isn't as cute as other books in this series, but the overall point is the same. My kids really like it!

  • This book is a great addition to any Easter basket if you are a Christian or believe in Jesus as the Son of God. It explains that Easter is not about eggs and bunnies but a celebration of the fact that Jesus dies and rose. Of course I would not recommend this book if you are not religious because it is a religious book. My kids loved it because it shows that we can like the bunnies, chicks and eggs but still remember the true meaning of this day.

  • This is a cute little book that sorts out the fuss related to Easter traditions, and what Easter is actually about. I got it for my own kids years ago and have since given it as a gift.

  • This was a wonderful book for my four kids! I thought that it was age appropriate (they are all under 7), and I loved that it was a board book. While we read it, the babies couldn't rip it up!

I liked it because it does not cast normal Easter activities in a bad light (i.e. Easter Eggs, Easter bunny, etc), but puts them in context. In this book secular celebrations do have a place, but they do not replace the religious context! I thought it was a great message for little ones! I would highly recommend this book!

  • Best Easter book I've found. Explains the Christian meaning of Easter while incorporating common easter events. Avoids skirting around Jesus dying. Most importantly it doesn't use the word hate.

  • After purchasing their What is Christmas book last year, I went ahead and ordered this one for Easter, too. Children can become so wrapped up in the all of the marketing that goes into these holidays and I wanted to have a book that I could read to mine to help her understand the true meaning and WHY we are actually celebrating. (It's not to keep Hallmark and the candy companies in business.) These are great, simple books with colorful illustrations good for holding their attention and keeping the focus on what (or rather WHO) Easter is about.

  • It's hard to find a children's book that can pull back and teach little ones the real reason why we celebrate Easter. This book did a pretty good job. Still haven't found that "this is it" book yet, but it was a good one and my kiddos enjoyed it.
