  • This a lovely book for children (and grandparents, as well). We love collecting, sorting, tumbling, and treasuring special rocks. We sent this book along with a wooden "treasure chest" as a gift to a three-year-old. We were so taken with the book that we've ordered several more for our stash of gifts for grand-nieces and grand-nephews. The photography and writing are excellent.

  • This was a gift for my eight year old grandson that accompanied a fossil & rock collection for his birthday. My five year old asked me to "read it again Grandma!" The photos are great and the message is back to nature.- sunflowerlady

  • My book just arrived. It is a gift for my nephew, because I love rocks and want to share that love with him. I read the book and loved it! What a beautiful use of language and pictures. I am giving him this book and a wishing rock - I wish joy and happiness to him and expect he will love the book as much as I did.

  • Beautiful story for the young collector. Not scientific about the rocks, more about describing the location, shape, and emotional attachment to the found rock. My kids love it and refer to the book while we are out hiking or just in our yard collecting.

  • This book, ostensibly for children, could engage anyone. It could occupy a place on a coffee table, as the photos have a dreamy hand tinted look that is timeless and soothing, and the gentle poetry of the words is simple yet pleasing. Who among us has not found mysterious and beautiful, unusual or commonplace rocks to handle and examine, contemplating their origin and possible meaning? Like a pleasing pebble, found and admired, this book is a treasure. I am sending it to a five year old, and will include one small ordinary rock I found and bonded with decades ago, knowing that the child will appreciate both since she has already begun a life of discovery and reverence for things as simple as small rocks along her path.

  • My 6 old rock collecting daughter and I read this book the day we got and she liked it but I can't say I think it will be a favorite.

  • A beautiful book that inspires kids to pay attention to details in nature. Couldn't ask for more than that in a children's book. I get this book over and over again, as a gift, and everyone loves it.

  • My 3 year old is obsessed with rocks. This quickly became his favorite book. He loves the photos of the rocks.
