Schizophrenia For Dummies.

Schizophrenia For Dummies book. The authors, Irene Levine, P. and Jerome Levine, . are profoundly indebted, of course, to members of NAMI, an organization which, in my opinion, perpetuates stigma. The book trots out the usual stuff about myth busting such as the myth of split personality, the myth that people with schizophrenia are violent, the myth that bad parenting is the cause. • This review is for the e-book Schizophrenia For Dummies.

I purchased this e-book a while back when I had a family member get diagnosed. This book helps you get a good understanding of the disease, what the common symptoms are, and how to deal with the person. What's interesting is how the symptoms manifest into very similar if not identical situations and stories. This book is a must read for anyone who has a friend or family member dealing with this disease, it helped my sanity.

  • The first couple of chapters talks about the symptoms and signs of schizophrenia. There are a few vignettes in the book, but not many. Most of the book focuses on the treatment and recovery of this debilitating disease, and it appears that the book is written for families of those who suffer and the patients themselves. Overall, it is a good book covering everything you need to know about the illness. I wish there were more vignettes so I could lean about real people who suffer from it and how they recovered.

  • The book helps you gain a basic understanding of the disease through providing you with what are the common symptoms and how to deal with the individual. Provides some concrete stories. This is a must read for anyone with a friend or family member dealing with this disease,Let's you know you are not experiencing this disease yourself.

  • Excellent book for those with a loved one recently diagnosed.

  • The book was good.

  • The book was very informative and easy to understand. The one thing I would like is a book like this wrote for the person who has the mental illness instead of writing it towards the "poor caregivers" who are "burdened" with helping.

  • thank you!

  • Tough study, but needed to know more.
