  • As a first time mom, this book certainly helped me make sense of the toddler years. Without it i dont know how i would have figured things out. I like it because it gives common sense strageties. It also explains the psychological aspect of the different stages. Once i understood how my son was thinking or feeling it was easier for me to navigate each situation.

  • Pretty decent book, love the charts, not a quick read.

  • This book is really helpful. I especially appreciated all the information for ages 3-4 yrs, because that has seemed to be a more challenging time for my husband and I with both of my boys, but I think that this book will help any parent or child care-giver or educator better understand all of the developments of young children at all the ages specified in the title. The book is also formatted in a user friendly fashion that allows the reader to find a specific age/subject easily. I am glad that I added this book to my home library.

  • Honestly, I didn't find this book really helpful. Many of what's in there seems common sense to me. I was hoping more for a comprehensive book to keep as a reference, when my son encounters a problem and I have the book to turn to. The First Year, by the American Academy of Pediatrics was the perfect book for that...for his first year. Now, that he's over a year I'm in the lookout for a similar book.

I'm not sure if I could return this book, but I'd really like to.

  • This is an extraordinary and delightful book for parents, with its practical and calm approach to navigating the early years. I highly recommend it to parents who are looking for something that offers a new perspective on how to cope with and enjoy the adventure of child rearing.

  • It has been more than a month now but I still haven't received my book! It is very frustrating that there is no way to contact Amazon on this matter!

I have recommended this book to my friends as the book that "has it all"! I'm sure it will become dog-eared in the next 5 years the many times I'll reference it.

  • As a mom of three little ones with a 4th on the way, I'm always looking for parenting books that can help me navigate the different stages that each one of my kids is going through. Also, as a I founder of an advocacy site for young moms, [...], I also enjoy featuring authors with books that really make a difference. Ms Neville does a wonderful job of highlighting the phases that many children go through. She offers candid and reliable advice for parents in a wide array of topics from potty training, to answering some of the tricky "Why" questions. GREAT book and WONDERFUL author!!
