Marshall Sprague tells the remarkable and colorful story of a community that, despite its massive growth, never abandoned its original vision of comfort and gentility. In the town's early years, rich easterners and Englishmen came seeking adventure, romance, and gentility. I attended the Air Force Academy from 1969-1973 and fell in love with Colorado Springs and the suroounding area - although I do not particularly care for what has happened since I left. This is a thoroughly engaging biography of the city, although Sprague is not always the most engaging writer.
