I read this book before visiting the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs in Los Angeles, and it really filled in the background for me. It also served well as a guide to the exhibition itself, and now afterwards I have been reading through parts of it again, discovering new insights. A truly excellent book for anyone interested in ancient Egypt - whether you go to the Tutankhamun exhibition or not.
