Phantom Warriors (From the Legendary LRRP, LRP, and Ranger Teams-True Combat Stories of Vietnam, Book . I have read all of Gary Linderers books and almost all the books still in publish on the 101st Airborne divisons LRRP, LRP, and Ranger units in Vietnam

Phantom Warriors (From the Legendary LRRP, LRP, and Ranger Teams-True Combat Stories of Vietnam, Book One). I have read all of Gary Linderers books and almost all the books still in publish on the 101st Airborne divisons LRRP, LRP, and Ranger units in Vietnam. Everyone I have read by Gary Linderer has been amazing and I have not been able to put them down. This one is no different. I recommend any and all of his books plus books like Recondo by Larry Chambers and the entire Six Silent Men Series.

Read unlimited books and audiobooks on the web, iPad, iPhone and Android. These are LRRP, LRP, and Ranger units at their finest, under the most desperate circumstances: one team surrounded by the enemy with no choice but to break out of the trap-or die, another caught in an ambush of horrific proportions. When recon missions suddenly became contact missions, when grenades started flying and AK-47s were smoking, each man’s life was instantly on the line-and only his skills and the grit of his teammates could prevent certain death.

Book by Gary A. Linderer
  • I really enjoyed this book. Many short stories of LRRP insertions. These men were daring individuals. They would never leave a LRRP comrade behind even if it meant their own life. When I was in the Army over there, I had no idea these patrols were even in operation.

  • This is part of a two book series. I recommend buying them as a set since both contain short stories of LRP missions in Vietnam. The stories show the true heroism of the men who fought and died in Vietnam.

  • One of the best friends I ever had was in this Company.
The last thing he ever said to me was '' Agent Orange finally got me.''

  • This book does not waste time explaining what LRRP/Ranger units were in Vietnam. Very refreshing for readers who already understand that history.

Excellent chapter that details the battle where CSM Don Purdy earned his Bronze Star.

  • Truly a series of stories about the bravest of men.

  • Good

  • This is a good book.

  • I heard that more books have been written about the conflict in Vietnam, than any other military conflict in history. Hard to conceive that just about anyone that wanted to write a book about this ugly war, did go ahead and wrote it, then published the book. Like anything else, where a lot of competition is concerned, not all books about this tragic war are in the same level. After reading countless books about Vietnam, and admiring the courage of the warriors that served in that war, I started realizing that some of the books were better than the others. Without implying that less dedication, courage and sacrifice, was more apparent in one selection than another. They all distinguished themselves in more ways than one. This particular title, Phantom Warriors, I read regardless of the size of the print, which to me is always more attractive to read a book with standard print size, and in this copy the print was small. The story of the LRRP's is nothing short of astonishing, the kind of missions they were involved in, it is hard to believe sometimes the hardships they had to endure fighting for our country. 3.5 Stars.
