Of particular interest is Michael Howard's slim but brilliant final volume, dealing with strategic deception.

This book is thorough and gives a good idea of what the British knew and didn't know. It is particularly good for giving much of the information collected. Many different sources pointed in many different directions. Therefore some intelligent analysis of the data was required. The intel effort seems to have been most effective in the U-Boat War and V-Weapons. A major effort was made in these areas. Where the British seem to have be consistently weak was the collection and analysis of German economic data.
