  • Use this to research before you buy!!! Old furniture is getting harder and harder to find. This helps you make sure you have made the right choice!!!

  • This book is the first of a series of three books which covered American Victorian furniture. The book is organized by rooms where the various furniture pieces were used, so basically organized by type of piece. The book has 14 chapters and 150 pages. There are six colored pages, but most pages show four black and white photos of Victorian pieces. At the beginning of each chapter there are a few pages of comments on the chapter's content. This book is nicely written and the pieces are well described. As a collector of Victorian furniture, I enjoyed reading and looking at the book. However, I am mainly interested in using the book as a reference book, BUT nobody spent an hour or two to compile an index. I had to do this myself, otherwise the book basically is just a picture book and not a resource book. In addition, the binding is poor and pages can come out easily. [Book II is organized by Victorian period and has an incomplete, one page index. Book III is organized and similar to Book I with some similar chapters and most of examples were different. It does have a more extended (two page) index.]
