  • super book and I look forward to using most of the ideas.

  • Very pleased with book and transaction

  • The book was a great value and in great shape. There are so many different quilt ideas in the book.

  • This is a great book for those wanting fast, simple projects.
Easy to follow and many great pictures!

  • I’ve got to say it: This quilting book is jam-packed with colorful photos and expertly staged and photographed items, making the owner want to make multiple iterations of all of the 25+ projects. This is a book to include in the library of all quilters.

The finished needlework shines, combining the ‘Old World’ feel into patterns with shortcuts, using a rotary cutter and sewing machine to make it ‘New-World’ in construction, which is much faster than the hand-work that was demanded in the past to make quilts.

This book is a lens back in time to even earlier times in places across the ocean, where many of our ancestors engaged in these crafts out of necessity.

In the ‘Quick Quilt Techniques’ section on page 6, the editor outlines quilting in military uses in the Crusades of the Middle East, to the British shores in the Victorian era, to the American tradition starting with the pioneers, and then ends with revival quilt-making back in Britain in the 70s.

This 2002 soft-cover book has 144 semi-glossy pages, all of which have either multiple color photos or shaded hand-drawings to show the quilting process. The patterns in this book are all household goods.

    The editor is Rosemary Wilkinson.

This book is a quilting road map back into time, stretching back to our ancestors who made quilts, and the craft was kept alive by morphing into American quilts when settlers arrived here. It then morphed back to the British Isles in the 1970s. Its projects produce beautiful items that modern-day owners will covet and use. This book is a gorgeous but welcome addition to libraries of all quilters everywhere.

  • I started quilting two years ago and since that time I have made quite a few quilts. Easy ones, hard ones and I have wanted to do more complex quilts. At least I thought I did until now. I don't remember how I found this particular quilt book but I love it! The quilts are easy, especially using the "big" blocks in the projects. The directions are easy, step by step in simple terms. The color options are limitless and I am having a ball making these quilts. I have just started one for my father for Christmas in plaids and it is beautiful. I know I wil get another one done, just in time!

I also love scrappy quilts and there are plenty of options for wonderful projects.

I just can't say enough about this book.

If you like "simple" but beautiful, then this book is for you!

  • This is one of my three favorite quilting books. Unfortunately, I loaned it to someone who denies having borrowed it, so I bought a replacement. I am already working on another quilt from the book, so it is nice to have the "old friend" back.

  • This book is helping me sew my first quilt. It is a wonderful guide, and has great diagrams, explanations, and quilt designs. I'm thrilled with how easy it is to use, and with the way the quilt is turning out. I highly, highly recommend the book.
