Textile Science

  • This is an excellent book with good explanations of the chemistry that defines the properties of different fibers, yarns, and textiles. Readers with at least some chemistry and physics (e.g.. high school) will find the properties easier to remember given the physical explanations. Readers without this background will find themselves led through the pertinent information and though it might not "stick" as much, they will appreciate that all of this makes sense.
    The first part of the book covers physical properties that might be a bit tedious for some readers, but the following sections on fibers, yarns, weaves and finishes were easy to follow and enjoyable to this curious reader; the sections and subsections are clearly indicated and generally short enough to absorb readily.
