  • The contents of the book are good and if, like me, you like this kind of architecture and decor and, as I do, you like remodeling and construction, you will find this book interesting. However, all the photographs should have descriptions and they don't....that would make the book a much easier read. And, since the book is about the remodeling of an old house, it would be have been interesting to see the before and after floor plans.....that would have given the reader a better scope of the project and a better idea of the author's concept for the remodel. Also, there should have been pictures of each room with the caption of the work done (sort of a before and after) and the description of each room.

  • This is a great coffee table book, and something that can be read over a pot of tea. It is dedicated to this one project in Ojai when I had hoped it would have more practical general decorating advice. It would be a great gift though - a true visual treat. Reminded me of my childhood and the bungalow I grew up in in India.

  • This is my favorite of all of her books! Elle Décor had a full spread of this house after Kathryn sold it to Reese Witherspoon. I thought that Kathryn's version of this farmhouse was better than Reese's designer friend's version. Reese's designer sucked the whimsy and color out of it...sadness. Kathryn's style, I thought, fit the flavor of this house perfectly. Buy this book and choose for yourself.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed all of the photos in this handsome book, though I wish there had been more before pix and more detailed captions as to what was changed and what each photo depicts.

A floorplan of the home, as remodeled, would also have been a big plus. In general I think that many architecture and/or decorating books these days lack the graphics that would explain or complement the photos. I'm one of those who finds the floorplan an essential part of the experience.

I enjoyed Ms. Ireland's literate text and admire her style. The book is well worth having.

  • Maybe my favorite Ireland volume - but they're all great. My go-to books for inspiration.
