It covers: The structure, regulation and expression of the AP genes The three-dimensional structure of APs and mutagenesis work that further defined the l domains of the isozymes The phenotypic abnormalities of the different AP knockout mice Our current understanding of the in vivo role of the AP isozymes. The book also describes the possible use of APs as therapeutic agents and therapeutic targets and the many uses of these.

Mammalian Alkaline Phosphatases: From Biology to Applications in. .Osteoblastic alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a key enzyme involved in the process of bone formation and osteoid mineralization.

Mammalian Alkaline Phosphatases: From Biology to Applications in Medicine and Biotechnology. The book also describes the possible use of APs as therapeutic agents and therapeutic targets and the many uses of these enzymes in clinical medicine and in biotechnology. In this study we investigated the direct effect of strontium (SR and SrCl2) on the activity of ALP obtained from UMR106 osteosarcoma cells, as well as its possible interactions with the divalent cations Zn2+ and Mg2+.

ABSTRACT: Background: Alkaline phosphatase has 4 isozymes, tissue non-specific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP), placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP), intestinal alkaline phosphatase and germ-cell alkaline phosphatase. Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is an inherited skeletal disease caused by mutations of the gene encoding TNAP. Although TNAP is expressed in various tissues, the primary HPP symptoms appear in bones and teeth. The clinical severity of HPP varies widely from the most severe (perinatal, infantile and childhood) to the mildest forms (adult, and sia).Mammalian Alkaline Phosphatases - José Luis Millan. A review and discussion of new knowledge on the structure and function of mammalian alkaline phosphatases (APs) gained over the last 25 years. It covers:* The structure, regulation and expression of the AP genes* The three-dimensional structure of APs and mutagenesis work that further defined the structural/functional domains of the isozymes* The phenotypic abnormalities of the different AP knockout mice* Our current understanding of the in vivo role of the AP isozymes. The book also describes the possible use of APs as therapeutic agents and therapeutic targets and the many uses of these enzymes in clinical medicine and in biotechnology.
