Toilet Tom is a wonderful book for little ones with a fear of the toilet. The pictures used in the book, in addition to the characterization of the monster as a friendly creature, are kid-friendly and make reading the book to your little one a joy. Further, the rhyming scheme used throughout the book is both age-appropriate and helps young ones learn how to read.

  • Meersman does a great job of taking you through his journey with Ulcerative Colitis. Although you can see from his descriptions that the disease took a horrible toll on him, he manages to mix in a great deal of comedic relief through it all that will wipe away your tears with laughter. If you have or have had ulcerative colitis this is a must read. And for those of you that haven't it's a great read that will help you understand ulcerative colitis and will make you laugh and cry, often at the same time. • I bought this book because I am also a sufferer of Ulcerative Colitis. I wanted to see what this guy had to say, because I've thought about writing a book about my experience. I've had UC for over 10 years now, and just had my colon removed. With that I have many more years of experience on this guy, and I generally can captivate people with my store. Here is what I found from Mr. Meersman's story:

    1) He's a complete wussbag-He lives with his mommy. He whines and cries about everything. His life is completely uninteresting; In fact the only interesting aspect of his life is that he has Ulcerative Colitis. He only dealt with UC for 2 years before having his colon removed, which makes me feel like he wimped out. To be honest, thats the perfect word. He's a total wimp.

    2) He doesnt know how to write a captivating story-There is nothing interesting about what he has written. His whole book is a) I got sick, b) I threw up, c) I went to the doctor. Boring, boring, boring.

    3) He's not assertive-He literally messes (I'd use a more graphic word here, but I didnt want to violate the TOS) himself because he cant tell a woman, "Im sorry I have to excuse myself".

    4) He finds anything and everything to complain about-He gets upset about a very decorated doctor because the doctor has a mustache.

So how would I describe the book? Basically if you've just been diagnosed with UC, this book will probably give you a good idea of what your in for. On a scale of 1-10 I have a 10 for UC. I have gone through everything this guy has gone through, but I went through it for a lot longer. If your not a wuss, you can take this book with a grain of salt. If you dont have UC, there wouldnt be any reason to read this book whatsoever. Its not interesting.
