A colorful addition to the popular Big Book of Verbs series What does The Big Green Book of Italian Verbs have that the competition doesn't? It has more verbs, a better selection of conjugations, more usage examples, and clearer presentation of tense formation and usage. Also, this book streamlines the learning process by indicating the principal parts and irregularities of each conjugated verb.

Book Condition: CD INCLUDED Gently used book, pages unmarked. Series: Big Book of Verbs. The book not only provides full conjugations for all of these verbs, it also provides helpful usage examples with sample sentences and related verbs. Condition: Used: Very Good. An index in the back makes the book serve as a sort of German-English verb dictionary too. Even if the verb you're looking for isn't one of the 555, you can still look it up and find a verb that conjugates the same way. So if you're studying German, either as part of a class or just self-study, I would recommend this book as a worthwhile aid.

Series: Big Book of Verbs Series. Paperback: 702 pages. The cd-rom in the back of the book brings this to another dimension. I consider this a valuable asset for the serious learner as well as the academic student looking to make it through the course

The Big Red Book even has separate conjugation tables for the reflexive verbs, with and without the reflexive pronouns. Plus there is a cross reference list for other verbs with the same conjugated forms as one of the 555 Verbs. I happen to own The Big Red Book of Spanish Verbs, 501 Spanish Verbs, and 2000 Spanish Verbs. Each text has its strengths, and the price for each is a bargain. But if I could only choose one book of Spanish verbs to have, the Big Red Book would be the one. Excellent book on Spanish verbs.

  • I just received this book and it looks excellent--just what I was looking for. Other reviewers have already posted great reviews about its great usefulness. I'm only posting this review to alert interested buyers that this is NOT the version that comes with a CD-ROM. I didn't know that was available until I read the introduction to the book where it mentions that there is a version with a CD-ROM. Amazon doesn't seem to carry that, but it's available elsewhere, including through the publisher.

  • This is a very useful book. The first few pages are devoted to educating the reader about the various tenses. The verbs then follow, in alphabetical order.

What's great about this book is that it doesn't just include the various ways of conjugating verbs. I have flashcards that do that just fine. Rather, additional information is included about many of the verbs.

As an example, take the verb, acabar. One page in the book includes all the ways to conjugate the verb; acabo, acabare', acabe, acabando, etc. One other full page focuses on different ways, other uses, and related words:

    * acabar + infinitive = to have just done something
    * acabar por + infinitive = finally, in the end
    * acabar con = to finish with

I find this very helpful, as many Spanish verbs [e.g., dejar, dicir, andar, ir, hablar] can be used in a variety of ways. If all you know is how to conjugate them, you miss these subtleties.

Even with the number of verbs included in this book, I know the basic meaning of most of them. This book helped expand my understanding of many of them.

Finally, with every verb, there are multiple examples provided.

Definitely a book to include in your arsenal of Spanish resources, especially if you're at the beginner- to intermediate level.

  • The book has the goods as far a the conjugation of all the verbs. It does that very well and that alone is worth more than the price of the book. Add ons are examples of usage at the bottom of the page - neat. 50 of the highly used verbs also have a full page each written about them. Also a grammar section which is a bit of a tease, I would have liked a little bit more of an explanation of the tenses and moods. The short explanations are good and well written, but considering the size of the book, they could have been a bit more involved. Still this section is over 40 pages - there is just a lot ground to cover, I guess.

The cd is alright. Much of it is multiple choice, where I would have preferred ¨fill in the blank¨/flashcard sort of format. I scored about %70 on the diagnostic test by by just finding the person and number of the subject and matching it to the verb ending - although I had no idea what most of the verbs meant, or even what tense or mood I was working with. Even though, I plan to work though the exercise to get a better understanding of the verb endings. The module that challenges you to pick out the difference in the two easily confused verb forms looks sweet.

  • The only thing I don't like about the Big Blue Book of French verbs is its bigness; the 8 X 11 format combined with the book's thickness, makes the volume a chore to carry around especially if you are usually packing a dictionary, textbook and notebook to complete your foreign language study arsenal.

Otherwise, the book is great, consisting of introductory pages that explain the simple and compound tenses and provides usage examples.

The bulk of the text devotes a full page to each of the 555 verbs with full conjugations and examples of regular and idiomatic usage. Verbs which fall under the TOP 50 include an extra page of examples and related words.

ALong with drills to help test your knowledge of verb forms, the text concludes with three indices: an English-French verb list, and Irregular Verb Form cross-referenced by infinitive and a list of over 2500 verbs with their English translation, cross-referenced to their verb model.

Its bulk intimidates, but this book is a great reference guidel its dimensions may make it cumbersome to carry about, but it is a worthy desk aid.

  • I hadn't taken Spanish in college since 1998 and had to finish up 2nd year accelerated Spanish to get my Bachelor's degree this year. I was stressing over it big time and I started having trouble with conjugating verbs in the class when saw this book on Amazon and read the great reviews it had. They weren't wrong either, because the book really helped me a lot! I passed the class because of this book. If you need help with Spanish verbs, this book will help you immensely.

  • I love this book! Why?
Well for starters there is the logical way in which the authors have approached this daunting task. They give you a list of "50 of the most common" verbs en Espanol, then they list all 550 verbs in alphabetical order. On the page in which a "common verb" appears, there is a notation that this is a "TOP 50 VERB!"
I am also impressed by the way they have conjugated each verb in an understandable manner, and the examples of usage they offer for each of the 550 verbs.
This book has gone along way toward taking my Spanish "to the next level," and I am quite certain it will do the same for you.
As cliche' as it sounds, this book is a "must read" for the serious student of Espanol.

  • This book has helped me more than most of my other Spanish books. It has all the conjugations, which is typical, but it also has a CD that takes you through hundreds of practice exercises. There is a test, audio exercises, just to name a few. I have used this book and one other for advanced learning more that all the others. I love the extra practice, especially with the subjunctive!

  • After looking at the contents of this book, I realized what was missing from my Spanish studies. An acquaintance with verbs beyond conjugation is required. This book fills that need. I plan to purchase an additional copy for a friend.
