Start by marking That Pretty Pretty; Or, the Rape Play as Want to Read: Want to Read savin. ant to Read. 057369690X (ISBN13: 9780573696909). I had to force myself through finishing this play. I had read several of her other plays before hand and knew that something amazing would rise out of the myriad of sexist, racist, et cetera imagery. I didn't see the light until the very end of the tunnel but I'm very happy that I waited it out.

That Pretty Pretty or The Rape Play. Closing Date: March 28, 2009. As portrayed by Annie McNamara in That Pretty Pretty; or, The Rape Play, a raunchy, savvy and only partly successful black comedy by Sheila Callaghan ( Dead City ), Ms. Fonda wanders in and out of the play, exuding sex appeal, stoically smiling through abuse while serving and cleaning up after the male characters. In the twisted, caffeinated world of the show, which imagines the collective unconscious of a culture where girls never stop going wild, she is the kind of feminist a misogynist dreams about.

Samuel French UK – Sloane Square, Chelsea, SW1W 8AS London, United . If the play is played for truth, then humour, humanity and the emotional honesty of the characters will come through.

It's just two actors, two cubes they move around, some very pretty lights and some weird music. Oh, and it's brilliantly written and very funny – except for the sad bits, of course.

Comedy / Characters: 2m, 3f A pair of radical feminist ex-strippers scour the country on a murderous rampage against right-wing pro-lifers, blogging about their exploits in gruesome detail. Meanwhile, a scruffy screenwriter named Owen tries to bang out his magnum opus in a hotel room as his best friend Rodney ("The Rod") holds forth on rape and other manly enterprises. When Owen decides to incorporate the strippers into his screenplay, the boundaries of reality begin to blur, and only a visit from Jane Fonda can help keep worlds from blowing apart. Sheila Callaghan's That Pretty Pretty; or, The Rape Play is a violently funny and disturbing excavation of the dirty corners of our imaginations. "Mind-blowing images and soul-crushing language flowing wildly." -Back Stage "A submersion in the anarchy of ambivalence: variously a rant, a riff, a rumble - about our notions of naturalism, objectification, perversity, and beauty ... There's sass and sarcasm in Callaghan's high-energy punk writing." -John Lahr, The New Yorker "Raunchy, savvy... the twisted, caffeinated world of the show imagines the collective subconscious of a culture where girls never stiop going wild... [Callaghan] push(es) her audience's buttons with an aggressive treatment of some of the darker corners of the human psyche." -The New York Times
