Automatic Recognition of Anatomical Regions in Computed Tomography Images. This paper presents a method that can recognize anatomy regions in Computed Tomography (CT) examinations. In this work the human body is divided into eleven regions from the foot to the head. The proposed method consists of two main parts.
The purpose of this book is to focus on the application of CT to the musculoskeletal system. Ten chapters deal with tumors, inflammation, trauma, and osteoporosis. There are specific chapters for the foot and ankle, the shoulder, and also for magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and newer CT scanning capabilities. Five interesting case discussions are included. Each chapter provides an up-to-date reference list
Computed Tomography of the Thorax. By David P. Naidich, Elias A. Zerhouni and Stanley S. Siegelrnan. They state that the role of computed tomography (CT) has to be considered in the diagnostic procedures which many patients undergo.
Computed Tomography of the Thorax. Raven Press, New York, 1983. The initial chapter on principles and techniques does not cover the subject in depth but gives enough information to outline the problems and importance of slice thickness and spacing, exposure factors, and reconstruction in various planes.
The pancreas can be readily identified in virtually all adult patients by high resolution computed tomography. The history of X-ray computed tomography goes back to at least 1917 with the mathematical theory of the Radon transform In October 1963, William H. Oldendorf received a . patent for a "radiant energy apparatus for investigating selected areas of interior objects obscured by dense material". The first commercially viable CT scanner was invented by Sir Godfrey Hounsfield in 1967.
Acute and chronic pancreatitis. The manifestation of acute pancreatitis can be acute interstitial edema of the pancreas. At the same time, the pancreas is visualized with indistinct contours in computed tomography without a typical cellular structure. Often around the pancreas, hypodense fluid (exudate) and edema of connective tissue are determined. As the destructive process spreads, hemorrhagic pancreatitis and pancreatonecrosis develop, which is a poor prognostic sign. Chronic pancreatitis or slowly progresses, or occasionally recurs.
