I purchased this book intending to read it and resell it. But after finishing it, I have given it a permanent place on my bookshelf. Bartholomew's observations and suggested methodologies are well-worth consideration and implementation by any nurse manager who has ever faced horizontal violence and oppressive behavior in the workplace and wanted to change it. Her presentation is non-academic and user-friendly. She sagely notes that without immediate, system-wide awareness and change, the nursing profession will continue its current downward spiral in morale and retention.
