  • I bought this book to learn more about intrapartum nursing care and emergencies to provide better care during low- and high-risk OB interfacility transfers. The standard paramedic curriculum only touches on the labor process, peripartum, and hypertensive emergencies in a most cursory way, which often leads to EMS providers and L&D nurses "speaking in tongues" to each other. This text is a fantastic resource to bridge that gap between clinical worlds; the explanations of the labor process and pathophysiology are in-depth, yet simple to understand. This would be a fantastic supplement to paramedic continuing education, or as part of study/prep for flight or critical care paramedic certification exams.

  • Great for general study, but not up to date material according to AWHONN.

  • I am an experienced ER nurse that recently moved to the the labor and delivery dept. I was looking for a book that I could study and truly understand the labor process. This is perfect

  • This book came recommended to me prior to beginning my labor training. I used it constantly during my first couple of years as a labor nurse and I still pull it out when I'm working with students or to refresh on how many MVUs = adequate contractions ;)

  • This is an EXCELLENT book and a must have for all Obstetric RNs. Great explanations and easy to read. Has much more thorough explanations of pathophysiology than some of the other obstetric texts. The text also has a good review and practice tests in the back. This was my favorite book for studying for the Obstetric RNC exam. Highly recommended!

  • Needs to be updated. Sad that this is the only book of it's kind available for teaching an L&D course.

  • I have been a labor and delivery RN for 17 years. This book is a great reference guide of any L&D nurse at any level of experience. It is well written and eay to read.

  • A good way for nurses to challenge themselves with testing and learn simultaneously- an excellent resource with a test after each module!
