Co-Author Catherine Westbrook. Tell us a little bit about your book – who is it aimed at and how will it help them? MRI in Practice has been an essential book for technologists, radiographers and radiologists wishing to learn about MRI for nearly 20 years and is now a market leader.

Co-Author Catherine Westbrook. It covers fundamental topics that anyone practicing MRI needs to understand to get the most out of the MR system and interpret images correctly. In addition it has helped technologists in the USA prepare for the MRI registry examination. What differentiates your book from others in the field?

Catherine Westbrook, John Talbot.

Catherine Westbrook, John Talbot. The leading MRI reference book and study guide. Now with a greater focus on the physics behind MRI.

Catherine Westbrook MSc, FHEA, PgC (HE), DCRR, CTCert, is a Senior . Catherine is also an independent teaching consultant lecturing on the MRI in Practice Course and other renowned international courses and conferences.

Catherine Westbrook MSc, FHEA, PgC (HE), DCRR, CTCert, is a Senior Lecturer and postgraduate pathway leader at The Faculty of Health & Social Care, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK where she is responsible for the postgraduate course in MRI. She is also the author of Handbook of MRI Technique and MRI at a Glance, both published by Wiley.

Catherine Westbrook, Carolyn Kaut. This technique, which is intrinsically digital and has reduced operator dependency, allows the performance of image analysis in a quantitative and reproducible manner

ABOUT THE AUTHORS CATHERINE WESTBROOK, Senior Lecturer and Course Leader, MSc Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK.

Since the first edition was published in 1993, MRI in Practice has become the standard text for radiographers, technologists, radiology residents, radiologists and even sales representatives on the subject of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). This text is essential reading on undergraduate and postgraduate MRI courses. Furthermore MRI in Practice has come to be known as the number one reference book and study guide in the areas of MR instrumentation, principles, pulse sequences, image acquisition, and imaging parameters for the advanced level examination for MRI offered by the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in the USA.

The book explains in clear terms the theory that underpins magnetic resonance so that the capabilities and operation of MRI systems can be fully appreciated and maximised. This fourth edition captures recent advances, and coverage includes: parallel imaging techniques and new sequences such as balanced gradient echo.

Building on the success of the first three editions, the fourth edition has been fully revised and updated. The book now comes with a companion website at www.wiley.com/go/mriinpractice which hosts animated versions of a selection of illustrations in the book that are used on the MRI in Practice Course. These animations and accompanying text are aimed at helping the reader’s comprehension of some of the more difficult concepts. The website also hosts over 200 interactive self-assessment exercises to help the reader test their understanding.

MRI in Practice features:

Full color illustrationsLogical presentation of the theory and applications of MRIA new page designA companion website at www.wiley.com/go/mriinpractice featuring interactive multiple choice questions, short answer questions PLUS animations of more complex concepts from the book

  • When I was training at the University of Pennsylvania this book was known as our "Bible". In short, it comprehensivly covers MRI from Atoms to Zipper artifacts. The book can be a little technical at times but unfortunatly, that's MRI for you. It does a great job at explaining the basic concepts of MRI and then building on those ideas to explain the more complex ones (K-Space headaches anyone?). A must for any technologist serious about passing their boards or reviewing MRI physics and implimentation.

  • I own many, many books on medical imaging, specifically MRI. This book encompassess the physics, sequences, imaging parameters, artifacts, contrast, and clinical application of these in very simple language with great illustrations. The authors have succeeded in publishing the best-written and most thorough of study/review books out there today.

  • Catherine covers everything MRI in this book. Very well organized and it won't put you to sleep reading it. Between this and a few review books, the MRI registry was a breeze...

  • This book is an easy to read book that provides an in-depth look at MRI physics. I used this as a review for the ARRT exam for MRI. It was a must buy.

  • Great condition!!

  • Fancy book. Good for technician. If you want to get more than that, it is not the book you want. Very basic stuff about MRI. It is a still very good book to know about MRI. Pictures helped a lot!

  • This book is an excellent resource for those who wish to learn more about the physics of MRI. It is written in easy to read text and provides many illustrations which depict the material. I strongly suggest this book for anyone who is going to take the MRI boards.

  • I was looking for an MRI book that would help me study for my boards and this book is that. Very helpful with a lot of great information.
