  • This is an exceptional resource for psychiatry residents looking for an overview of approach to diagnosis and treatment of the most common psychiatric conditions. I wish I would have had this book early in my training to help with understanding concepts and terminology used in psychiatry. I hope the author will consider making a new version using DSM V criteria. Even though the oral boards are no longer a component of our examination, this book is truly helpful in learning psychiatry.

  • Although the oral boards are now dated, this text is still an excellent resource for psychiatrists and trainees. The format is easy to understand and helpful for quick reading points

  • I bought this product to prepare for the oral boards, and it has some great information not just for the exam, but for general practice. It now sits on my desk as part of my quick references.

  • There is absolutely no book that comes close to oral boards preparartion. It is incomparable. It is not too extensive and uses simple language.

  • This book has a lot of redundancy. I found myself feeling like I already read the pages I was reading, only to realize that a very similar medication is now being discussed or a disease that has very similar diagnostic criteria. Even worse, the same point would be stated under treatment and under prevention and under support. The same notes on a medication are mentioned under the discussion of pharmacology, somatic treatment and under medication side effects. I could not believe how much repetition there was, and how much time I could have saved if this book was tightened. Such a waste of time

  • Good

  • All the pearls you hear in training explained. An absolute must no matter what training year you are. Buy it now!

  • I find this book to fulfill all my needs for my oral exams. It places emphasis on the disorders that are more likely to be emphasized in exams. It also has a lot of pearls. It does not replace a textbook. I highly recommend this book to anyone preparing for an oral examination in psychiatry.
