For more than five decades, Sears and Zemansky's College Physics has provided the most reliable foundation of physics education for students around the world. The Ninth Edition continues that tradition with new features that directly address the demands on today’s student and today’s classroom.

A broad and thorough introduction to physics, this new edition maintains its highly respected, traditional approach while implementing some new solutions to student difficulties. Many ideas stemming from educational research help students develop greater confidence in solving problems, deepen conceptual understanding, and strengthen quantitative-reasoning skills, while helping them connect what they learn with their other courses and the changing world around them. Math review has been expanded to encompass a full chapter, complete with end-of-chapter questions, and in each chapter biomedical applications and problems have been added along with a set of MCAT-style passage problems. Media resources have been strengthened and linked to the Pearson eText, MasteringPhysics®, and much more.

  • Well, how to say... I have noticed the book has TONS of flaws. Many of the problem questions have not been updated from past editions, and obviously, the answers and solutions provided do not match the actual solutions. I also find the arrangement of many topics is a bit unclear and misleading (why sound and SHM are different topics and SHM and theory of elasticity are in the same unit). However, the wide selection of problems is great for practice of the topics.

  • The book could have been in better condition, but since I only needed it for 1 month it worked out pretty good, especially since it was only 20$ for 3 months to use it, that’s unbeatable, Just make sure to call amazon and get your shipping label emailed to you , and take it to a mailing place and they print and mail it for you.

  • Can't even understand this book, but it was required for class. I do not even understand why this book was made or who approved it to be used in an educational setting such as a college or university class. TERRIBLE BOOK. I feel that I learned more from youtube and other review books than this crappy book that I spent so much money on. NEVER purchasing again.

  • For the first few chapters, I felt like I needed to read OpenStax's free physics book to grasp the concepts before actually reading this text. The practice problems for each chapter are ridiculous at times. It does the job but didn't match my instructors teaching approach which made it difficult to use.

  • Pretty easy to understand within the text. I just don't like that you have to buy a separate product (the answer book) to see more worked out problems. It does give some odd number problem answers in the back, but it does not show how those answers were found. This leads to the student sitting there wondering where they went wrong and no guidance to help them through it. I did like that there was an abundance of practice problems within each chapter so it did help some.

  • This book sucks. My professor was worse so the only good this book brought me was the fact that it had the homework problems in it. Just use YouTube...

  • This was a class requirement. The book is hardcover and the content well organized and well illustrated.
It is recommended if your class needs it. However, collegue level books must do something about their pricing.
Why is it that the most expensive books are designed for an audience that can barely pay for it?
