1986 PAPERBACK
  • This book written about a topic that is controversial is a bit dated, but still offers insight in how to tackle this common addiction.

  • Wildmon's book, The Case Against Pornography, is by far the most popular treatment on pornography and its effects. He quotes everybody here, from newspapers, researchers, police reports, government reports, victims, church authorities, social workers, psychiatrists, and psychologists - all without any documentation. He even shows how both federal funds and federal agencies actually support the pornography industry, as well as links NOW, the ACLU, and People for the American Way.

This volume also contains many essays written by a psychologist, a pediatrician, a political scientist, an Episcopal bishop, and many of the victims of pornography. Literally hundreds of studies are cited throughout the book concerning pornography's effects on crime, child abuse, violence against women, poverty, teen pregnancy, homosexuality, disease, promiscuity, and broken marriages and families.

As those in the helping professions need to practice preventative medicine, preventing the spread of pornography is just that. Wildmon gives specific guidelines for action, as well as examples how they have been implemented. Any church member will find this volume extremely practical.
