  • Good reference for older fraternal and military swords from the Ames Co.
Good for mid-level research work. Unless you are doing research and need to reference this type of material or are building a library of like books, you can benefit just as much from a visit to your local library.

  • The reproductions are very good. I wish there was a better table of contents or index, but it's reprinted verbatim from the 130-year-old catalog, so I guess my complaint is with people too long dead to care. My Mowbray's introduction is very nice. An excellent companion to The American Fraternal Sword, by Hamilton, et. al.

  • Perfect gift

  • This book is in general ok. I bought this book to help me with some North America swords identifications. The reprint is well done, but works better as an "catalogue" than as "sword identification key" (and it is a catalog - I knew it). The plates are ok and "well reprinted". I give 5 stars for the historical reprint - if you need swords IDs or more details better try something more specific.

  • Nice book with great info!

  • Nice to have on hand for the sword collector! Reprint of the original catalog by Ames Sword Company and very detailed that assists collectors with dating pieces.
