George Edward Stanley was born in Memphis, Texas in 1942 and died on February 7, 2011 from an aneurysm at the age of 68 years. From 1967 to 1969, he taught English to foreigners of East Texas State University; the following year he held the same role at the University of Kansas (Lawton).

George Edward Stanley was born in Memphis, Texas on July 15, 1942. He received a bachelor's degree in 1965 and a master's degree in 1967 from Texas Tech University. That led to his writing radio plays for a program called World Service Short Story. Three of his plays were eventually produced. He also wrote under the pseudonyms of M. Coffin, Franklin W. Dixon, Laura Lee Hope, Carolyn Keene, Adam Mills, and Stuart Symons.
George Cary Eggleston was born in Vevay, Indiana on November 26, 1839. His older brother, Edward Eggleston, was also a well-known author. When the boys were still young, their father passed away, leaving their mother to raise four children on her own. After graduating from high school, Eggleston attended Indiana State University for a year, but at the age of seventeen, he inherited a plantation in Virginia - an event which dramatically changed the course of his life.
