  • I am single parent. I have been dating man who these types of accusations have been made about. He used a lot of exucses and I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. He fits the definiltely of a molester in this book. I am done wiht him now. He could have targeted my six year old. Every technique he used was in the book, every excuse he used was in the book. To top it off I even identified him as the bottom feeder type of molester discussed in this book.

  • I purchased this book on a recommendation from a trusted friend. As a mother of boys and having been exposed to a child molester, my paranoia in looking at all people near my kids was getting a bit distressing. This book sets out clear warning signs for potential child molesters. Just as importantly, it sets forth what behavior not to worry about. It also addresses the fact that many organizations do not take the allegations of abuse seriously - mostly because they do not understand how a groomer works. I recommend this book to any adult that cares about children.

  • A terrific tool. The idea of "grooming" tells us as a society that we need to educate ourselves in order to protect. This book opens that door, explaining in understandable terms the nature of a molester. The term "socially skilled" is the key to understanding. I highly recommend this book. I purchase it regularly (and have for several years) to give to victims and families of victims to assist them in healing. It opens a conversation that is a must.

  • This book is an excellent resource for those who watch over children. Carla Van Dam writes in a researched, direct way that hits the reader right between the eyes.

Her use of composite characters help identify behavioral traits that we can use to quantify unease with those behaviors.

Parents, educators and daycare provides need to read this book.

  • I didn't realize how many different techniques and personalities there are to a child molester. This is a must have book for EVERY parent so they properly guard their child.

  • This book is really full of information and I think, as someone else was saying there, every parent should have one of these. With the help of it we can help keep our children safer.

  • The case studies are enlightening and educational. Should be required reading for Law Enforcement, Judges, and Educators.

  • Worth the read, wish it had gone MORE into techniques, but what they do offer is worth the knowledge gained. If you want to read a book that is more clinical in nature, this would be it...
