  • Book describes eight movement drills and twenty seven movement form, however, this may not be the form taught by your instructor.

  • One cannot hope really to learn Wushu (or any other martial art) through a book. The presence of a teacher is indispensable. In this aspect, I found the part of the book in which he teaches the basic drills and the form not so much valuable, unless you are learning that same style and wish to improve your details.
However, I found it interesting and useful the part that speaks of the Shaoling training methods and, specially, the part that shows applications for the movements of the form. In these I found some inspiration and good information to improve my art.

  • It was a gift for my Granddaughter

  • because it was written by donn f. draeger this will be a collectors item one day I got the 2003 edition and it has different material in the book published in1979 it shows a solo form and than a two person version of the form

  • This book gives you a very good description of this Kung Fu style from history trough basic hand signs and greetings to basic stances, punches and kicks with drills for footwork. The Lohan pattern is alsoe shown in what i belive to be gret detail with several picturesfirst as a solo form and then again with the aplications. Pictures are big and clear with easy to understand and god text. A brief chapter alsoe on the shaolin fist and hand conditioning exersices.

  • This book covers the Lohan set in Shaolin. It, like a couple other books by Draeger, is direct and specialized. There is a bit of information about Shaolin as a whole, but the main gist is the form. It also only has only one application for each movement. Anyways, it is a good book, for those wanting to know this form and some of its applications.

  • Superb. 90% of the martial arts books one reads are written by 'masters' who are either very unskilled and who write rubbish, but write it well; or who are moderately skilled but who write very badly. The combination of Mr Draeger and Master P'ng (whom I was lucky enough to train with) makes this a book worth devouring by anyone with an interest in matters martial. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

  • This volume should be a must for anyone interested in following the Shaolin path, I found it to be clear and it continually challenged me to increase my efforts to learn the techniques of the Shaolin masters. Well worth the money.
