  • I believe that Luther's devotion, "Fourteen Consolations," is one of the best writings in all of the Christian Church. It is so profound and comforting that I'm not able to put it into words. All I can say is I highly recommend you buy this volume just to have this one writing, even though all seven are excellent to outstanding. Since the titles of each devotion in Volume 42 don't appear to be available to the Amazon shopper, I'll list them: 1) A Meditation on Christ's Passion, 2) An Exposition of the Lord's Prayer for Simple Laymen, 3) On Rogationtide Prayer and Procession, 4) A Sermon on Preparing to Die, 5) Fourteen Consolations, 6) Sermon on the Worthy Reception of the Sacrament, and 7) Comfort When Facing Grave Temptations.

  • You do get what you pay for. I also purchased The Table Talk of Martin Luther by Thomas Kepler. It is so much more complete, well organized and makes me sorry I bought this one. This has no index, is all run together and is not enjoyable to read.

  • This is an amazing little book with big and relevant beliefs for today, from the man that started the Protestant reformation. Written by Luthers friends, and containing Martin's uncensored beliefs about the anti-Christ. This is a must read for every person professing to be a Protestant. A must read for every Christian!

  • I wish I could throw back a few schooners of fine German ale with Luther and hear his table talk in person. What outstanding theological insights from the legendary reformer and central figure of protestantism!

  • This is an index to the ENGLISHED WORKS of Luther, based on the DEUTSCH critical edition; I got it with a view toward doing a (statistical-linguistic-) goodness-of-fit text with Scriptural citations, to ascertain WHICH TYPE of text Luther liked to quote/mention. I got this Index at a good price, but there may-be (only may-be) a slight problem finding which particular works in DEUTSCH relate to the ENGLISHED citation-places. But for its type, this work is PERFECT IN ITS OWN PERFECTION. However, no Lutheran theo school is close here (Louisville KY) and I suppose my pauper's budget would overtax buying the entire Fortress Edition. For others, I CAN report-- if IHR DEUTSCH IS GUT-- PDFs of vitually all of Luther is available free from a German U online! Consider this before buying all of Luther or the Index in English!

  • This book has 85 pages and the real book has over 200 pages. There is no table of contents in this book. The cover picture is the best feature of this gutted book.

  • To get a different perspective from Kaiser on Ecclesiastes, i decided to read Luther's Works on it. Truthfully, it was a much different perspective but had great thought and insight into the text. I haven't completed the Song of Solomon, but the comparison to Hudson Taylor's work on it should be interesting as well. I think it is necessary to learn from teachers whose personal lives lived out their faith, and it is a moot point with Luther that he did. Furthermore, it shows in how he presents the material. The Kindle edition has a table of contents that makes it easier to use.

  • The book is just a delight to have on my desk and read the daily evening discussions of Luther and his friends and students. I have seen other volumes and online PDFs, or EPub version, but I highly recommend the printed version as your notes, your thoughts and your growth are going to be recorded in the margins. You will be thrilled with the investment and it is a book that is a legacy to the next generation.
