Emerson and James B. Irwin. This book takes the reader on a candid look at the life of an astronaut and how he saw his trip to the moon in the context of his own spiritual beliefs. In some parts he confesses his faults and in others, he delights space enthusiasts with the details of Apollo 15. Jim Irwin was a man who happened to go to the moon. For all the hero worship involved in the early space program, this book is a reminder that these people were human and that they weren't oh so perfect.

The rule was, of course, Women and children first. the Titanic sent her first distress call. The terrible news about the Titanic reached New York about 11 o’clock last night, and the scene on Broadway was awful. At 12:45 she began firing rockets, for there was a light on the horizon, tantalizingly near.

An orphan girl named Mol wakes in the middle of the night to music. Enchanted, she follows the sound into the forest of Arden, where she is taken captive by a man known only as the Erlking; a man who rules a kingdom of monsters. He, the Seventh Child and prophesied Lord of Death, has been Exiled, and the Empire will stop at nothing to keep him from his destiny. The Prince of Ravens has vanished.

  • Very Informative and interesting book. These guys risked their lives going to the moon to benefit the world. Then after returning, have to Go before congress because they carried some stamps to cancel on the moon. This was part of their personal PPK kit that didn't affect the flight at all. Then, as usual, the Government has to make a mountain out of a molehill. This was a minor thing that shouldn't have been mentioned. The amount of money that would have been made was just a drop in the bucket compared to the scientific and technologies gained by this mission. I'm sure it cost the taxpayers lot more money just for congress to investigate it than the astronauts could have ever made on the stamps. They did a good job and represented our country very well. Our Government should take note.

  • I could not put the book down! It is such an interesting viewpoint from someone who walked on the surface of the moon. I liked the author's honesty about his failings in life but his determination to succeed.

  • I really like the book. I enjoyed his expiriences on the moon and how related it to God. I like how the book started with his moon landing and worked its way from his life. This is a very good book i would recommend it to anyone. It reminded me of the book the Martian but this book is real.

  • I loved this book since the author James Irwin personally signed my other similar book when he attended the rocket firing at Aerojet General back in 1974. This book I bought to have a second one for my family.

  • Excellent and highly inspirational book, I especially recommend it for teenage boys. Good for motivating young men to do right.

  • Insight into the man I knew.

  • Excellent book to read. BEWARE of Amazon's description when you first look at the book, and all the options. The cover page has the book title but below, it says it was Inscribed and signed by Jim Erwin on the end page. The copy I got was not signed. I think that Amazon needs to take that info off of the page for this book and allow buyers to read each item description rather than assuming that the book was signed.

  • Are you a space geek? Don't buy this book. Are you hyper-religious? You'll love it.

I wanted an insider's perspective on space travel. Not a sermon about how Jesus is the engineer of the space program and everything inbetween.
