Series: Mills & Boon Largeprint Penny Jordan. Hardcover: 288 pages. I did not like that the heroine began a sexual relationship not long previous to the beginning of the book with a man who I did not like and she did not love. I could not like or respect the heroine to that point. If that doesn't bother you go ahead and read it.

This book is why I love Penny Jordan's books But by the time she'd resigned herself to a future without passion with a man she did not love, Lucas changed his mind again.

This book is why I love Penny Jordan's books. The hero's unrequited love for the heroine, in spite of the hero's marriage(non consummated) to a truly awful woman, is terrific. The fact that the heroine arrives at her true feelings for him, which she has had since she was 16, on her own is truly sweet. But by the time she'd resigned herself to a future without passion with a man she did not love, Lucas changed his mind again. There were tentative forays into his thoughts even though that was practically unheard of during that time period with these types of books. I guess you could say that this story was spicy for it's time period, but still conservative. I eventually found Silhouette Desire and moved on to historical romance when someone introduced me to Kathleen Woodiwiss' books. I have remained a fan of Penny Jordan's and Carole Mortimer's and their stories will always have a place in my heart.

Penny Jordan needs no introduction as arguably the most recognisable name writing for Mills & Boon. Although Daniel was at least honest enough not to offer her protestations of undying love.
