This book is dedicated to my four sons: Beau, Rob, Matt and Daniel. Any one of them could have been the model for my Viking hero, Selik, who is handsome, brave, strong and sensitive.

This book is dedicated to my four sons: Beau, Rob, Matt and Daniel. Not surprisingly, there’s a bit of the outlaw spirit in each of them. And to the god with a sense of humor depicted in this book. He had better be saving me a special place up there after giving me four unconventional Viking sons.

The Outlaw Viking book. Mass Market Paperback, Love Spell: Timeswept 446 pages. This book was an improvement over its predecessor in that at least it focuses more on plot. Published August 1998 by Love Spell (first published January 1995). Unlike the preceding book, this one doesn’t dilly dally in the plot to stop and give us boring details about how Vikings lived, etcetera. Those kind of things should be woven into a story WITHOUT interrupting it.

Although he was about the same height as Selik, he carried none of the muscle and bulk that honed Selik’s wonderful body. His leanness was deceptive, however. His leanness was deceptive, however n’s stomach and held her against the wall like a battering ram. His wiry left forearm lay across her chest, near her neck, no less impenetrable than a steel bar. I am going to release my hand from your mouth, and when I do you will remain silent, Steven said. She glared up at him. Go ahead, you damn fool. They’ll hear my screams in America.

The Outlaw Viking - Sandra Hill. This is the second in a 2-book mini-series within the series. The first book introduces Rain’s mother who has also traveled back, way back in time. This book while it has its moments of humor is more of a tear-jerker than anything else. I have re-read this book at least 25 times and I still can’t help tearing up or out and out crying during several well written and emotional scenes. These are two extremely well developed and believable characters.

  • Finally, I've had to read 100's of books to fine this one. It is an amazing read. I love romance books, but I like them to be a little more realistic. I want a REAL Viking and NOT a bad boy lusting for his "high school" crush. I like a very strong male dominate role, even with a little violence, because that is what Vikings are known for, violence, pilage, berserker, no mercy, take no prisoners and even rape. Most Viking romance books are pretty much all the same, to good to be real, with no "emotional problems" Viking man, meets the most prefect looking women, whom is stronger and more strong willed then most Viking warrior's. Ya, like that would really be the case, if you where to go back in time. This book is realistic for what I would previce to what the viking time to be like. The right amount of brut strengh, sex, male dominates, female streght and misunderstands to make the most perfect viking story, with ofcoare some twists.
The hero/ Selik is a real hard Viking, that you love to hate and is not perect (fisically and mentally marked by many battles and his past family loss) and is not considered by most to be handsome. Rain is "large/ tall" form most peoples prospective. Lets just say that she is no drop dead beauty, like most "normal" women. Most times I dont do time travel books, because they are more like G.I. Jane of the WEALS goes back in time to kick some pansy vikings ass, again....right. If that were the case, G.I. Jane would be coming back in a body bage. I was pleasantly surprised that my favorit book would be of time travel and NO G.I. Jane, but a medical Dr.
There is just not enough GREAT/ WONDERFUL things that I can say about this book. It is the first book that I felt emotionally drawn into it; Like I REALLY could feel, (and it is how I would feel) in Rain's situation. Hell, who am I kinding, I would LOVE to be in Rains position. This is the first book that I wrote a review on. It is an absolute WONDERFUL BOOK. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Sandra Hill and my husband thanks you too :). I if there are others out there that feel like I do; I would really love feed back on other books similar to The Outlaw Viking. Having a hard time finding "REAL" Viking books, but still in the romance line. Have read other Sandra Hill book and like OK, but have yet to fine "the one" to rival The viking Outlaw.
Give yourself pelenty of time to read, because it is hard to put down.

  • I agree with having a outward laugh when reading a novel. I found myself snickering through these chapter's that were endearing. Packed with romantic overture and funny moments. Yes, there were the usual drama which carried the reader thru to the complete storyline. But, it fixated you to the pages and didn't release the reader until completion. Worthy read for Sandra Hill and suggested this novel to any one who enjoys humorous spunky woman characters.

  • Pros:
    Selik, the sexy, tormented hero
Great historical backdrop with well-researched details
Emotionally poignant with a focus on Selik's forgiveness and redemption
Good side character development (Uddi, Adam, Blanche)

    Cons:
Slow-moving, predictable "Fix the emotionally damaged hero" plot
Rain, the heroine whines and acts immature the entire time. The hero calls her "shrewish" it struck me as true. She's really annoying.
Love scenes were hot but they were few and far between
Too many repetitive "I Love You's" by Rain - over the top.

While this book was a page turner, I enjoyed it much less than Hill's The Blue Viking.

  • This book was an interesting sequel to "the Reluctent Viking". I couldn't put it down. I do think Rain could have been more understanding of the time period she was in and not try and do everything her way (21st century woman style). The story was well written and gave alot of history for that time period. You felt the pain and the joy of the characters. I love all of Sandra's books.

  • Book

  • I am including most of Sandra Hill's viking serries in this review as I have now purchased and read most of them and have enjoyed all of them a great deal- I find them really entertaining, humourous I laughed to myself during reading many a time, they were heart warming once I started reading I had to keep going I did not wont to put them down until finished. Extremly well written, I would recomend to one and all-very enjoyable reading.

  • Great characters, great storyline, great love, great adventure and I love the history as well. Adam is a great character I highly recommend

  • Action, adventure, romance, and comedy all rolled up into one wonderful book. I really love her books they always put a smile on my face.
