Excellent cowboy historical romance book. After six years and 31 rejections, Leisure Books bought Reckless Heart, and she's been writing ever since. Easy to read, lots of actions, love story and color of the skin doesn't matter. After writing several Westerns, Madeline decided to try her hand at something else and wrote her first vampire romance. It was a short story titled "Masquerade" for an anthology.

Series: Leisure Historical Romance. Paperback: 393 pages. I would really like to see Madeline Baker write a historical novel. Her talent really shines when writing about the Indians and their way of life. What didn't work in this novel, which is ironic, is the romance. I found Kaylynn, a shallow superficial heroine, more concerned about her broken nails than anything else. The hero, Yellow Thunder was more worried about his scarred face than romancing the heroine. Both characters seemed to have a lot of 'growing up' to do.

  • Great book

  • As the saying goes..."Kept me hooked". When I thought it was over....the % of book tells me not even close!!! Definitely worth your time. (I read thru kindle unlimited). Bit of short history on each town they come upon was informative but not dragging down like some I've read. (If I wanted a history lesson I wouldn't be reading a romance book!) A lot of quite fascinating events...BUT Perhaps too much in such a short period of time to be even believable. There only so much even strong healthy H/h bodies can take the physical assaults, survive, travel and be ready for the next one with flying colors. I don't think so. However aside from that I really enjoyed it. Likable characters and that one character you really wish you yourself could get your hands on and apply old fashion western justice yourself. Worth your time.

  • But after being attacked by Indians, captured by more Indians, released only to be captured by more Indians....the heroine still has her handbag with her "husbands" letters in it. THAT just defies believability.
In chapter 22 while in Tucson, Jesse gives Mathilda money ......for travel expense to get TO TUCSON!!!!
This had possibilities that were squandered by inattention to detail.

  • A book that will rock your socks clean off you. Your tissues flying through the air after you. I have found another excellent writer!!
Ms. Baker brings you through heartaches of loss and then takes you into a true blessing soul mate romance . Love, faith and hope carries the pair onward. You will sincerely enjoy every page.

  • Madeline ALWAYS keep you on your toes you just don't want to put the book down. Read this book in three days with very little time to spare given loads if errands, housework and the like.

Love Jes character and learning about the American Indian culture is exceptionally rewarding. The American History taught in schools barely scratch the surface!!!
