  • This book is so so so good! If you like Marcia McClure you will LOVE this story. The plot is a classic and the author does it justice. The herione is innocent but strong.. she's a damsel in distress whether she will admit it or not. I love her temper. The hero sexy and haunted... he finds his ward beautiful and compelling despite his good intentions. At the end of the book you can feel their love. There are a very few books that I have read that have developed love between the characters in such a way that I truly felt like love existed and would exist had the stray been a true one. The only down side is that I wish it had a cover!

  • From the Mills & Boon stable one would expect a written by numbers bodice ripper. This book proves this is not the case.
Well written and obviously well researched the story pulls you along with characters you can not only relate to but care about, From the brooding battle scarred titular Major through to even the supporting cast, everybody has a backstory and is rich in detail. The descriptions of the regency debutente balls make you feel like you were there in a time when even some dances were considered scandalous.
This book deserves to be made into a lavish period drama for TV and film. A cracking read.
But don't take my word for it pick up a copy you won't be dissappointed.
