  • This is going to be one of those ranty reviews and you can put it all down to heroine.

A Beauty and the Beast story. Guess who’s the Beast? Yep, the witchy, strident, entitled, snooty wee-yotch of a heroine. I felt so sorry for Beauty, our poor six foot bajillion inch arrogant Spanish-raised-by-his-bootstraps tycoon, that fell in love with her.

Once again, the apple doesn’t fall from the tree adage comes to life as the heroine is coerced/blackmailed by her two parents, the Worthless's, into the MOC with big, bad Beauty to save their social status, the house and their bank accounts. Actually that’s a lie. The dad doesn’t just accept Beauty as a rich SIL who can bail them out; he gambles his daughter away and let’s poor Beauty take the rap.]Helping Mum and Dad Worthless out is the one point in her favor. Beauty wants her and he wants a family, but the Beast starts popping BC pills right away. Don’t blame her for that at this point.

The morning after, while monologuing to herself about how she doesn’t want him, the Beast is sexually enthralled with Beauty and peeved he’s not making the moves on her.

She attacks him verbally again for being too ambitious and too successful, you know - the two things that allowed him to save her worthless family’s delicate, inbred selves. Push comes to shove and he tells her if she wants him she’ll have to come to him, and he’s very good at waiting.

Loins explode, and they end back in merry old Sydney where it turns out Daddy Worthless has been up to his gambling habits again which negates the deal he made with Beauty. When the Beast finds that out that the deal is off, and that Beauty is NOT going to fund her parents entitled lifestyle anymore she tells him he’s a liar, and she’s leaving him forever, so there.

Beast finds out the truth and starts trying to figure out how she’s going to get back in Beauty's good graces since her bridge done burned.

She tracks the H down and grovels her way back because she loves him sooooo much[No, she doesn't. Sh wants to help the Worthlesses and live the high life (hide spoiler)] and wants to have his babies when the other shoe drops. The H finds the her BC pills and kicks her out for lying to him to get the Crackerjack prize.

She leaves and help save a child from drowning, but sadly the Beast survives.

I hated this witch. It’s nice to know that I do hold the same standards of behavior to the h’s that I do to my heroes. This guy is arrogant but he needs a much nicer heroine. Let’s switch her with Lindy, the sweet heroine in "Greek Tycoon, Inexperienced Mistress". Beast will do just fine with Atreus.

  • Trish Morey amazes me each time I read one of her stories and this time is no exception. The Spaniard's Blackmailed Bride is full of punch, power and passion and will have you reaching for a box of tissues.

Briar Davenport has no choice but to marry Diablo Barrentes to save her parents dignity, status and fortune. For if she does not marry Diablo, they will all be living on the streets, no longer living in Sydney's elite society and the life they've been accustom to having for generations.

At times, this was a difficult book to read as you could not miss the attraction Briar felt for Diablo, how he could with just one look or slight touch ignite and melt her heart. But even more so was the inner fight Diablo felt each time he was near Briar and how he tried to shield himself from the emotion she stirred in him.

Briar's feelings and honour bound behaviour for family was extremely moving. However, as she gets to truly know Diablo those feelings and conflicting emotions for her new husband and then her feelings for her family......well let's just say you will feel the power of it all!

A marriage of convenience through blackmail? You'll just have to read it to find out! Lust, attraction, all rolled into one and two unforgettable personalities....the devil himself, Diablo and the proud and stubborn Briar. Thanks Trish Morey for this story so full of attraction and passion.

  • This book was a bit of a roller coaster to me, and not in a good way. The main characters are Diablo (the devil) and Briar are dry. I wasn't really appreciative of Diablo riding rough shroud over everything and everybody because he was trying to prove to everyone that he was worthy or being excepted into the "old money" society of the upper crust of Australian society in the way that he did this was to blackmail Briar into marriage "Briar" the heroine who was born with the Proverbial Silver Spoon, in her mouth and could give him the acknowlegement from those in upper echelon he craved.....This is the first time I read a book Trish Morey that I wasn't all that thrilled about, their love story was just unbelievable and not in a good way. Borrow it from someone if you just want to read it but its not a keeper in my opinion.

  • A brilliant book I had to read in it's entirety once started. The characters so very well created. I loved it for the flow of the whole story. Don't be put off by the name of the Spaniard, Diablo. Don't be put off by the seemingly standard beginning. Get past all that and I promise, it gets better......
