When she noticed my grubby shirt and scratches, I told her not to worry; I’d walked through some brush and had another long-sleeved shirt to wear. I told her. Will you wait for Sam while I clean up and answer letters to Dear Aggie? Then you can tell Sam and me both on our way to the lodge.

There is a mystery brewing in Aggie's mind when she finds out the original owners died five years prior from dehydration on their own ranch

Sam needs a break, and Aggie thinks their relationship might flourish in an idyllic setting. But frolicking outdoors in summer turns deadly when Home on the Range means murder. There is a mystery brewing in Aggie's mind when she finds out the original owners died five years prior from dehydration on their own ranch. When Vickie, the assistant manager is seriously injured when she is thrown from her horse, Aggie thinks both of these things might be tied together.

Aggie mundeen mysteries. River city dead I have been to the San Antonio River Walk. You will fall in love with Nancy G. West’s writing just as I have! Sam and Aggie grow closer, and he still does not know of Aggie’s secret grief. I wish I’d read this book first. I love the interaction between characters. The author’s description of San Antonio’s River Walk makes you feel like you are there. Well-paced and written, there are bursts of humor in this novel that had me roaring with laughter.

  • I really did like it. First of all, I grew up in San Antonio, so it was fun to read about it. Even though the story doesn't take place there, the characters are from there and I had read the previous story so was familiar with them. I did like the story a lot. It was fun and just the kind of thing I like. I like all kinds of genre's but this one I really like also.

  • This is book 2 in a series. it was not as good as the first one. I loved the first one and couldn't wait to read this one. Maybe if there is a third one, it will get better.

  • Very good enjoyed reading it

  • Aggie does it again -- I love this character of Aggie Mundeen. Nancy West does such a good job of making Aggie humorous, but with a brain. And a penchant for falling into situations where her curiosity and sleuthing abilities come into play.
Looking forward to more Aggie Mundeen adventures.

  • Great Book!!!! Great series!

  • Good story.

  • I lost interest 1/3 of the way through the book. I may pick it up again although the mystery is easily solved.

  • Aggie, Meredith and Sam decide to take a vacation to a Dude Ranch. When they arrive at the BVSBar Ranch they are not impressed by the by the accommodations, the other guests or some of the employees. They decide to stick it out and try to have a good time. There is a mystery brewing in Aggie's mind when she finds out the original owners died five years prior from dehydration on their own ranch. When Vickie, the assistant manager is seriously injured when she is thrown from her horse, Aggie thinks both of these things might be tied together. Sam and Aggie begin to work together to piece together the evidence and clues to try to find out what really happened. Being a detective he can get information Aggie could never get on her own. She does still sneak around gathering information by eavesdropping and entering other people's cabins and also sends Meredith out to gather information as well. Aggie and Sam are beginning to get a bit more serious about their relationship, but she has a huge secret that she is keeping from him.

The mystery is pretty complex as it ties to the past history of the dude ranch and the lengths some people will go to get something they want. I like the characters of Aggie, Meredith and Sam, they have a lot of history between them. The people who work at the Ranch have some shady backgrounds and considering they were only in this story, Nancy West did a good job of fleshing them out. There are a variety of suspects and the setting itself adds to the adventure. There are a lot of twists in the story and I went from suspecting one person to another. I enjoyed the story and it was well paced. A fun cozy with a great setting. I am looking forward to the next one in this series.
