I should have read the description a bit more closely. I was thinking Tess Gerritsen Rizzoli and Iles, or maybe a medical mystery/thriller.

He was a gentleman bandit, she was a cat burglar. And they caught each other in more ways than one. But their desire was as strong as their distrust, and Jordan Tavistock began to fear that Diana Lamb was more than just a thief of hearts . . .

  • I heard that Tess Gerritsen is a very good writer and checked out her books a few times, but I found that she writes psychological thrillers and was not interested in the genre. Then the Kindle Daily offered a romantic suspense written by Tess and here was my chance to sample her writing.
    Well it was a disappointment.
The characters are shallow especially Cleo who not only suffers from low self – esteem (I am not good enough for him; he is better off without me…, which I have to agree with) but also puts herself and people around her in danger.
Jordan, when asked what he does, described himself as a “gentleman”. An occupation that allows him to dabble in light thievery and break in. Hence the faithful meeting – Cleo it seems has the same interest in breaking into the same house at the same time.
I also question the wisdom of the Hero when he utilizes government and personal resources to save her, when she is the one whose actions endangered them all.
The Prologue had a promise but the plot at times was boring. There was one interesting twist and although it should have been obvious when it was revealed I did not see it coming.
The narration by Zoe Winslow was good.
    2 stars for the book.

  • I should have read the description a bit more closely. I was thinking Tess Gerritsen = Rizzoli and Iles, or maybe a medical mystery/thriller. So I zeroed in on the "thief" in the title when I should have noticed the "hearts." This is a romance. Yeah, it's also a thriller--with lots of plot flaws. Fortunately Gerritsen's writing has matured over the years. Thief of Hearts is not bad, and it does have entertainment value, it just wasn't what I expected.

  • Love Tess Gerristsen. However, this is one of her early books before becoming the suspense writer she is today. I have been reading some of these old ones while waiting for a new one to come out. I have enjoyed some of them, but this one was a little cheesy. It did keep my attention and had some good suspense, but overall, not her best work.

  • This is the first time I have read a Tess Gerritsen that was not a Rizzoli and Isles novel. I enjoyed it. I really like to listen to books because I can keep doing my stitching or handwork while "reading". This was a whispersync book so, if I miss a word, I can just look over and see what it was. This was a good story, in my opinion, a fun read!

  • This is my first Gerritsen that was not part of the Rizzoli series. Written very well, kept me wanting more, so I stayed up until 2AM reading and finished it in the same day I started. That should tell you how good it was

  • Well, it was a wonderful trailer for the last book I read with Jordan , Richard and Jordan's sister. You have a definite vision that ties a woman's hair with lust, desire and most definitely sex. I love it. So what color will it be for their wedding?

  • My wife and I have enjoyed all of Tess's books so far. We have read all of the Rizzoli and Isles stories and are now working our way through her other stories. She always provides a good mystery.

  • 4 stars instead of 5 because the end was a little bit predictable. It won't keep me from ordering other novels by Gerritsen, though. It's well written and goes at a cracking pace. No wonder Tess Geritsen was asked to write scripts for Rizzoli and Iles.
