"As will be seen, there is not much missing here. I thought thatthe sections were well balanced, with rarely too much or too littleon a given topic...This is a text to be welcomed by both teachersand students." BIOCHEMISTRY & MOLECULAR BIOLOGY EDUCATION(on the first edition)

The second edition of this successful textbook explains thebasic principles behind the key techniques currently used in themodern biochemical laboratory and describes the pros and cons ofeach technique and compares one to another. It is non-mathematical,comprehensive and approachable for students who are not physicalchemists.

A major update of this comprehensive, accessible introductionto physical biochemistry.Includes two new chapters on proteomics andbioinformatics.Introduces experimental approaches with a minimum ofmathematics and numerous practical examples.Provides a bibliography at the end of each chapter.

Written by an author with many years teaching and researchexperience, this text is a must-have for students ofbiochemistry, biophysics, molecular and life sciences and foodscience.

  • I am a graduate student. Actually this book will give you a broad overview for most of the techniques used in biochemsitry in all of its branches, enzymology, structural, biophysics and molecular biology. It is really a value to have it on your shelves.

  • A great text for understanding the physical principles behind, and conceptualization of, modern biochemical techniques. Well written, comprehensive, with thorough explanations. Highly recommended for students or for those needing a general reference book.

  • (Paperback) I opened the book and was shocked at how small the font is. Comparing words with the same letters, "electrophoresis" is just about 18 mm in this book; in a biochem text it is 21 mm. Would it have eaten so much into their profit to give us 30 more pages with a decent font?

It's a good book with valuable coverage of important topics, but the reading experience will be torture.
