Keith N. Frayn, Emeritus Professor of Human Metabolism, University of Oxford, UK. Rhys D. Evans, Reader in Metabolic Biochemistry, Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, University of Oxford, UK. Skaityti daugiau.

Explaining difficult concepts with unequalled clarity, author Keith Frayn provides the reader with an essential guide to the subject. Covering topics such as energy balance, body weight regulation and how the body copes with extreme situations, this book illustrates how metabolic regulation allows the human body to adapt to many different conditions.

Human Metabolism: A Regulatory Perspective Paperback – 26 April 2019. by Keith N. Frayn (Author), Rhys Evans (Author). AUTHOR: Keith N. Frayn. PRODUCT DETAILS: Paperback: 352 pages. It gives a global picture while avoiding too much detail and has been widely accepted as the text of choice across a number of courses worldwide.

A whole body physiological approach to the study of metabolism written for undergraduate students in biochemistry, medicine, and life sciences. Stressing the integration of metabolism and how different tissues interact to maintain energy homeostasis, the volume surveys metabolism in relation to regulation, digestion and intestinal absorption, organs and tissues, endocrine organs and hormones, the integration of carbohydrate, fat, and protein n the body, the nervous system, lipoprotein, diabetes mellitus, and body weight regulation. • Phenomenal piece of work. There is no better book on integrative physiology in existence. I reference this book on a regular basis.

    Well done, Dr. Frayn!

  • As a student of a Bachelor of Health Science studying Nutrition- (and it was a prescribed text)- I found this easy to read and understand. The headings were clear and distinct and added to my understanding of the subject.

  • Professor Frayn did an awesome job to discuss & present a subject as dry as the human metabolism in a way which is easily accesible not only to biologists and medical doctors, but to educated layman as well.

The approach taken by the book is fully integrative, and discuss human metabolism in context of human physiology. This is what sets this book apart!! Its not yet another biochemistry text which study the metabolic pathways , its so much more.

Personal trainers , athletes , individuals interested in human performance and sport physiology will find this book very atractive and usefull in understanding key concepts of metabolism and metabolic pathways, organism repsonse to various nutritional plans, extremes like starvation & the metabolic changes during intense physical exercise. Human metabolism is a important component of sports and training, and by reading this book, many of its mysteries will be revealed.

    Very good value.
