  • This book does a great job of covering the details of configuration of mapping in Drupal. From my perspective, it did do a good job of describing the problem domain and challenges of mapping. What I was pleasantly surprised to find is the excellent references to mapping resources such as open source points of interest databases - very useful.

    It does not cover the details of every configuration option for the modules covered. I have had some challenges in installing mapping modules and libraries in Drupal and this text did little to help with that either.

  • There are many resources available online that can help you create maps with Drupal, but for now, this is about the only resource that puts them together and makes it easy to understand for mere mortals to understand and follow. It explains a lot of key concepts well, and gives a good introduction on how to install and use the mapping modules (GMaps, Openlayers) that can be downloaded for Drupal 7. I guess having a bit more screenshots would help illustrate the steps in this book since it's easy to get lost with Drupal's interface, but paying more careful attention to the more complicated instructions should help get you through. All in all, this proved to be an invaluable desk companion when I was working on our team's online mapping project. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn the basics of mapping with Drupal 7.

  • This guide is both terribly outdated and poorly written to begin with. It covers both the Geofield and Location modules and may still be of some use for the location module but is offers little to those using the geofield module. Poorly organized.
