Get a full overview of Solid State Physics Book Series. Solid State Physics has not changed since its inception in 1955, and continues to provide a mechanism. whereby investigators and students can readily obtain a balanced view of the whole field. Most recent Volume: Recent Advances in Topological Ferroics and their Dynamics. What has changed, is the field and its extent. Its boundaries have gone well beyond what was once, traditionally, understood as solid state.

Ashcroft & Mermins book "Solid state physics" is IMO the best graduate level book.

This is a concise solid state physics textbook written for undergraduate students majoring in materials science, electronics, or physics. It clarifies the philosophy underlying the various branches of solid state physics, explores the exciting and original ideas of great scientists, demonstrates the significance of the neat assumptions in theories, and exposes the complicated nature of solid state experiments. This book aims to guide students through a journey for the beauty amidst complexity, without missing the delicate thoughts contained in theories.KEY FEATURES(1) The book covers the basic concepts, theories, and experiments about the structure of solids and their electrical, magnetic, thermal, sonic, and optical properties.(2) The author traces the history of solid state physics in the discussion of chemical bonds and crystal formation, lattice vibration and phonon, magnetism and spin, dielectric constant and refraction index.(3) An easy and student-friendly text, this book can be of great help to engineering and computer science students in view of the important role of Solid State Physics in modern technology: the energy band theory is essential to the understanding of CMOS in the computer processor unit.
